The Butthole Surfers Reunite For Brief Tour

    Mon, 19 May 2008 11:05:31

    Featuring some very special guests

The closest thing to a full-on Butthole Surfers reunion will hit several cities in the UK and U.S. this summer, beginning on June 24 in Ashbury Park, NJ. According to the band's Web site, www.buttholesurfers.com, Jeff Pinkus will play bass and Teresa Taylor and King Coffey will both assume drum duties.

"This is the rhythm section the band had for most of the '80s," the band writes, "And marks the first time this lineup has played together since 1989."

Guitarist Paul Leary has only confirmed an appearance on the closing night of the tour in New York City due to "prior commitments," but the band will be backed by a "virtual Butthole Surfers orchestra" during its entire reunion run. And who's in the orchestra, you ask? Why, none other than the pint-sized Paul Green School of Rock All-Stars, who have performed Surfer tunes in the past. No word yet on whether or not Gibby Haynes is bringing his flamethrower.
