Thanks to the original smash airing
Camp Rock, the Jonas Brothers' Disney film debut, premiered on Friday night to the tune of 8.9 million viewers. That makes it the station's second-most-watched original movie, right after High School Musical 2 (a whopping 17.2 million).
As a result of the film's breakout success, Disney has already green-lit a sequel featuring the Brothers and castmate Demi Lovato, who's touring with them this summer. Both parties are also confirmed for their respective TV shows, J.O.N.A.S. and Welcome to Mollywood. Production for Camp Rock's sequel is expected to begin in late spring or summer 2009, so long as a proper script is approved.
