To just one song, too
The lyrics to "Give Peace a Chance" were auctioned off for $833,654 at Christie's on Thursday. The London-based auction house offered the John Lennon song along with a number of other pricey rock 'n' roll items.
"Give Peace a Chance" was penned during Lennon's protest for peace at the Queens Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal. He gave the song to Gail Renard, a 16 year old posing as a journalist.
"One day they will be worth something," he reportedly said to her.
