Successful TV scribe Joss Whedon, the brains behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has written a thriller called The Cabin in the Woods, and MGM has acquired the rights to the project. Drew Goddard, who served as a screenwriter on Cloverfield and a writer for TV's Lost, will direct the film, making his feature debut, with Whedon set to produce.
This is a reunion of sorts for Whedon and Goddard, who worked together on the cult hit Buffy and its spinoff, Angel. In other Whedon news, he'll launch his next TV venture, Dollhouse, on Fox next year.
