Crosby, Stills & Nash Announce First Album in 14 Years

    Fri, 18 Jul 2008 09:36:05

    It's all covers though

Crosby, Stills & Nash are working on their first album since 1994's After the Storm, a collection of covers helmed by Rick Rubin. According to an interview with Billboard.com, the band has held "many discussions" with the producer about the project, enough to cut 60 possible songs down to 20. The trio is currently working the kinks out in those selections during sound checks for their summer tour.

"Rick Rubin's a brilliant man," Graham Nash said, "and what he wants is an album with no CSN songs. He wants to do an album of all the songs we love, all the songs we wish we've written. It's brilliant from this point of view because we usually wait five years to record an album. This way there's no pressure."

The group will start recording in early 2009 with a release penciled in for later that year. For now, CSNY: Déjà Vu—a documentary covering their Freedom of Speech Tour with Neil Young—is opening on July 25. A companion live album is also due out next Tuesday.
