    All Music Guide Review

Chart Hits of the 70's: In the Summertime is a U.K.-centric collection featuring several worthwhile hits, including Mungo Jerry's "In the Summertime," Carl Douglas' "Kung Fu Fighting," Bonnie Tyler's "It's a Heartache," and Status Quo's "Down the Dustpipe." The collection isn't representative of all the '70s musical trends, but it is interesting for some of its distinctly British track selections, such as the Tremeloes' "Me and My Live," Pickettywitch's "Same Old Feeling," Joe Dolan's "You're Such a Good Looking Woman," and Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers' "Roadrunner" -- a cult classic, to be sure, but never a "hit" in the U.S. Rabid Anglophiles looking to better understand U.K. pop in the '70s might get the most enjoyment out of this collection, but it's generally pretty enjoyable for anyone. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
