    All Music Guide Review

MTV's TRL Christmas delivers just what the title promises: some of the network's most popular artists performing holiday favorites and originals, ranging from the slick teen-pop of 'N Sync's "I Don't Wanna Spend One More Christmas Without You" to Simple Plan's playful, punk-poppy "My Christmas List" to Angela Via's delicate-as-a-snowflake "Christmas Wish." Bif Naked and Sugar Ray turn in fun covers of "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" and "Little Saint Nick," while Blink 182 and Weezer contribute "I Won't Be Home For Christmas" and "The Christmas Song," a pair of unhappy holidays originals ("The Christmas Song" originally appeared on Weezer's hard-to-find Christmas CD, so its inclusion here is especially nice for their fans). Other highlights include the wry, reflective hip-pop of Little T and One Track Mike's "Snow Angel" and Jimmy Fallon's thrashy "Snowball Fight." Most of TRL Christmas is surprisingly strong, though Willa Ford's cover of "Santa Baby" sucks most of the fun out of the song, LFO's "Red Letter Day" is almost as annoying as their hit "Summer Girls" and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra's "Christmas Canon" sounds completely out of place here. Still, as far as Christmas albums go, TRL Christmas has enough good moments to make it a decent stocking stuffer. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
