All Music Guide Review

Crème Blush deliver a lush pop sound on their debut EP, New York. Nicole Pinto and Satski Ohtake smoothly redesign the kitschy formula that's reminiscent of '80s new wave, but with a fashionable electronic twist. They hail from the boroughs that brought you Interpol and the Strokes; however, the club/dance spunk of New York won't exude such swanky swagger. From the ravenous synth beats of "Spree" to the twirling cheekiness of "Gameshow Chorus," Crème Blush makes this particular release an adventure. Pinto is a radical performer; she exhibits a strict focus as a vocalist, exuding a shockproof richness that's similar to the likes of Siouxsie Sioux. Ohtake isn't as nasty, but her breathy sweetness is a divine match for Pinto. The harrowing "Dear Peter" highlights their dynamic presentation, a sure club classic. New York dances along the edge of campy pop, and with a bit of sass, Crème Blush has made a brilliant first impression. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, All Music Guide
