Best of R&B, Vol. 1 is a six-disc box that contains a large heap of singles from the '90s; it makes for a good way to obtain a lot of music from a relatively constrained stretch of time, though it's far from definitive since there's no attempt at rounding up the absolute biggest hits. The highlights include Aaliyah's "Age Ain't Nothing But a Number," the Notorious B.I.G.'s "Road to Riches," A Tribe Called Quest's "Find a Way," and Joe's "Treat Her Like a Lady." Though the package does provide six discs, two of them contain DJ mixes that do little more than eat up space. It's also worth noting that the four other discs are hardly filled to capacity. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
