All Music Guide Review

A full decade after "Acid Trax" became the acid house anthem, Phuture 303 released their debut album. There's really only one problem: whereas the mid-'80s edition of the trio (alternately named Phuture or Phuture 303) included Chicago legends like DJ Pierre and Marshall Jefferson in addition to Spanky, the group that recorded this album consists of Spanky, Professor Trax, DJ Skull, and Roy Davis, Jr. All except Davis Jr. are a bit obscure, even in the house community, but the results are quite solid. Though the sound undoubtedly recalls the late-'80s peak of acid house, it's still prescient for the music of another decade. Far less extreme than acid became in the early '90s, Alpha & Omega concentrates on the funk inherent in classic house music. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
