In addition to Rolling Stone-affiliated volumes and assorted condensed variations on the same theme, Time Life's Sounds of the Eighties series also spawned year-specific discs, each of which takes a fairly broad swipe at mainstream hits with little concern for stylistic cohesion. The 1986 installment features Robert Palmer's "Addicted to Love," Peter Cetera's "Glory of Love," Falco's "Rock Me Amadeus," the Dream Academy's "Life in a Northern Town," Belinda Carlisle's "Mad About You," and Howard Jones' "No One Is to Blame." Another flawed set, Cameo and Run-D.M.C. (with Aerosmith) are the only representatives for the styles of music that aren't entirely rock-oriented. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
