Ave Maria collects different interpretations of the classic hymn from a wide array of artists, including Chanticleer, Placido Domingo, Thomas Hampson, and Sumi Jo. I Fagiolini performs Edvarg Grieg's "Ave Maris Stella," Sarah Brightman sings Mozart's "Alleluja," and Julia Zenko interprets Astor Piazzolla's "Yo Soy Maria." The Tigerlillies' "Maria" and Jane Siberry's "Mary Had a Little Lamb" add a modern edge to this eclectic collection of songs about the Virgin Mary. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
