    Digitally Remastered Best

    04/18/2000 | Universal Japan

    All Music Guide Review

Although Gino Vannelli's classic A&M-period material deserves a serious reappraisal from a 21st century vantage point, this 1998 compilation (remastered in 2000) remains the very best set from his catalog available thus far in the United States. These 17 cuts trounce the 20th Century Masters collection released by Universal in March of 2003, which included only 12 cuts. Interscope released a comp that included 18 tracks, but fell short of the mark in terms of material. This is the only one that's relatively complete. There is a three-disc set that goes even further -- it was released as an import in 2003, and it's very expensive. So this is the only way to go and features all the major singles and some select album tracks by one of adult contemporary's most eclectic and iconoclastic artists. ~ Thom Jurek, All Music Guide
